Grateful
The truth is my whole life has been life art, but it is important to say that I went through an awakening to where the living of my life as art became a conscious endeavor. I think if I could have had that earlier it might have helped me. Nevertheless, I am grateful at 47 to have this conception with me now, in regards looking back at the past, arriving fully in the present (including this writing) and opening up to the future.
The miracle is actually being the Love that I am. Very close to that miracle is getting to be conscious of that. And next is being able to articulate it and share it. The work I have done over the past eight years or so has spent a lot of time and energy expressing as a library worker, but the full extent of my life has been vastly farther out than that. I will say again how important this shift towards kindness as art is to the artist and the people the artist relates to. For a life artist this can manifest in a daily way of being and conducting oneself.
It is true that I was stricken with a terribly debilitating mental illness that made it so I was completely disconnected from rationality and the unfolding of the objective world, but you by no means have to have experienced something like that in order to get the importance of this way of being, art as kindness in the world. I feel, I know, I believe that we must make this shift be real in the world so that who we are is a kind expression of the potential of humanity. We must not stray too far if at all from the core of Love that made us and makes us who we are.
It is very, very true that my foray into life art has been expressed way out beyond my time working at a library but it was an important element for me personally. It just worked somehow and got me back in touch with who I was and am. It is nice to express it here while I listen to some electronic music on my computer. Allowing for my whole true pure self to arrive and arise in and as the world as my life lived. I am grateful.
